As a Psychologist at the Correctional Facility in Avenal, you will play a vital role in understanding and addressing the complex psychological needs of our clients. You will apply your expertise in human behavior, thoughts, emotions, and mental processes to assess, diagnose, and provide evidence-based treatment interventions. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on individuals within the correctional system, helping them overcome a wide range of mental health challenges, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, addiction, and relationship difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments to diagnose mental health conditions.

Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings.

Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, counseling, and support to clients.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and safety.

Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.

Maintain accurate and confidential client records.

Participate in ongoing professional development and training.

Requirements:

Curriculum Vitae (CV) Required.

PhD or PsyD Degree in Psychology Required.

Active Professional State License in Psychology Required.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required.

Avenal State Prison is located approximately 20 miles south of Coalinga and 14 miles west of Interstate 5. The city of Avenal has a small town/community feel to it. But if you like a bigger city, Fresno is about an hour northeast. Because of Avenal’s central location in the state, getaways to the California coastline, Hume Lake or the giant sequoias in Yosemite National Park are nice options.
